Apron Sorts letterpress prints and folios feature 9 images of aprons typeset by hand with lead and wood type. I’ve been exploring apron images and letterpress patterns for several years, and wanted to play with type ornaments and letters to create a variety of apron styles. I was lucky to be able to work with Pilar Nadal, now the owner and director of Pickwick Independent Press, on this project. Together we did the typesetting and printing, and it is her I have to thank for many things, including the videos of us working at Wolfe Editions, where we printed everything. Immeasurable thanks to David Wolfe for letting us take over Wolfe Editions for the week of printing (and for donuts).
The large prints (29 x 22 inches) show all 9 aprons in a grid, and the folios are printed paper cases with 9 small prints of the individual aprons (each 8 x 6 inches). The folio also contains a title page with information about the project.
